Steve Anderson MC  LMHC:
Primary Counselor
I am a Bellevue area Licensed Mental Health Counselor.  My practice
concentrates on a few
areas of emphasis.  These include families, teens, and recovery from chemical
dependency.  I have spent several years focusing on each and enjoy watching the
success of those I work with.
My clinical approach blends numerous tools.  I approach each client as an
individual with individual needs.  Often we are looking for some specific changes
that can occur quickly.  It can be helpful to use Motivational Interviewing or take
a solution focused approach to rapidly create tangible changes.  This often
involves adapting current communication styles while developing new ones to
enhance our interactions with others.  On the other hand, sometimes going more
slowly and just sharing your experience is what you would find most helpful.

Educational experience includes a Master's in Counseling from Seattle University
and a Bachelor's in Science in Psychology from Washington State University.

Work experience ranges from working with highly impaired youth and adults in
both in and outpatient settings, as well as those with chemical dependency and
their families.

In addition to my practice, I also facilitate a
N.A.M.I. Family Support Group for
family members and loved ones of those with mental illness.  This group is held
at Fairfax Psychiatric Hospital in Kirkland on the first Tuesday of every month
at 7pm until 8:30 pm in the Board Room.   There are no charges nor
